Ecoglo® F4160 Aluminum Flat Stair Nosing – Gray Non-Slip Stair Protection
Improve traction, define stair edges and protect high-traffic steps with a durable 2.7-inch-wide aluminum non-slip stair nosing.
The Ecoglo® F4160 Non-Slip Flat Stair Nosing with Gray Insert combines a durable clear-anodized 6063-T5 aluminum profile with a hard-wearing gray silicon-carbide non-slip insert. The right-angled profile fits over the leading edge of an existing stair to provide dependable traction, visible step-edge definition and durable protection in high-traffic applications.
Designed for commercial, institutional, industrial and public stairways, the F4160 can be installed on concrete, timber, tile, steel, checker plate and suitable thin carpeted stairs. Its neutral gray insert makes it a practical choice where slip resistance and a more understated architectural appearance are preferred.
Model F4160 is part of the Ecoglo® F4-N20 non-photoluminescent flat stair-nosing series. It features a clear-anodized aluminum profile with a gray silicon-carbide non-slip insert. The gray surface provides traction and step-edge color contrast where it differs from the surrounding stair finish, but does not glow in darkness. For a black-anodized profile with a gray insert, select F4260.
The silicon-carbide non-slip material is integrally bonded to the aluminum substrate to provide durable traction for heavily travelled stairs.
The gray non-slip insert helps create a defined leading edge where it contrasts with the surrounding stair surface while maintaining a neutral architectural appearance.
The right-angled aluminum profile covers the leading edge and vertical face of the stair to help protect vulnerable stair edges from repeated foot traffic and wear.
The F4-N20 Series is performance tested for UV exposure, salt-spray resistance, freeze-thaw resistance, abrasion and washability for demanding stair applications.
Ecoglo® F4160 Product Configuration
The F4160 combines a clear-anodized F4-N20 aluminum stair-nosing profile with an integrally bonded gray silicon-carbide non-slip insert.
Recommended Applications
Upgrade Existing Stairs Without Full Replacement
The F4160 can be installed over compatible existing stair edges, providing a practical solution for stair renovations, traction upgrades and protection of worn leading edges.
Add a hard-wearing silicon-carbide surface to smooth, worn or potentially slippery stair edges.
The gray insert helps visually distinguish the stair edge when it contrasts with the surrounding tread surface.
The aluminum profile covers vulnerable horizontal and vertical stair surfaces exposed to repeated foot traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Ecoglo® F4160?
F4160 is an Ecoglo® F4-N20 flat non-slip stair nosing with a clear-anodized aluminum profile and gray silicon-carbide non-slip insert.
Is the Ecoglo® F4160 photoluminescent?
No. F4160 is a non-photoluminescent stair nosing. The gray silicon-carbide insert provides traction and color contrast but does not glow in darkness.
How wide is the F4160 stair nosing?
The aluminum profile is approximately 2.7 inches or 68 mm wide, with an approximately 1.5-inch or 37.3 mm wide gray non-slip insert.
Which stair surfaces can the F4160 be installed on?
The F4-N20 Series is suitable for concrete, timber, tile, steel, checker plate and suitable thin carpeted stairs.
What lengths are available?
Standard manufacturer lengths are 8 ft and 10 ft. Cut-to-length options are available with a tolerance of approximately ± 1/8 inch.
Can the F4160 be cut on site?
Yes. When profiles will be cut on site, Ecoglo recommends ordering inserts unattached and bonding them after the aluminum has been cut.
How is the F4160 installed?
The manufacturer specifies installation with polyurethane adhesive and mechanical fasteners, or with adhesive only, depending on the project and substrate.
What is the difference between F4160 and F4260?
Both models use a gray non-slip insert. F4160 has a clear-anodized aluminum profile, while F4260 has a black-anodized aluminum profile.

"Reduced to zero falls" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"During a major event last year we experienced approximately 26 slips and falls. This year, after installing an Ecoglo System, the figure for the same event was reduced to zero."
"Eliminated elderly falls" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“It’s a great product and we’re very happy with it. There were no falls by elderly visitors at our December(2010) commencement. It was worth every penny!”

Engineered for Durability
- Manufactured using Ecoglo®’s patented process which produces the most durable and highly efficient photoluminescent product available.
- Unique ridges in the photoluminescent strips protect it from most abrasive wear. They provide slip resistance while still allowing the product to be easily cleaned.
- The hard-wearing silicon carbide non-slip material is integrally bonded to the aluminum substrate. Thousands of people can walk on it with no signs of wear and tear.
Superior Step Edge Safety
- The color contrasting the non-slip material with advanced photoluminescent technology provides step edge visibility in all light conditions.
- The unique ridges in the Ecoglo® photoluminescent strips and the integrated anti-slip contrast strips provide all-weather slip resistance.
Installed Durability:
- The rigid aluminum base spreads any applied load over a greater area of installation adhesive. Installation with a premium polyurethane adhesive/sealant is extremely durable, moisture resistant, and works very well on both smooth and textured surfaces.
For Indoor Use and Outdoor Use:
- Tested to accelerated UV/weathering exposure, and proven to be highly resistant to the effects of UV/weathering.
- The loss in performance is less than can be detected by the human eye when subjected to 6000 hours of UV exposure, which is similar to 30 years of outdoor exposure.
- The polymer used in Ecoglo’s patented process is “long chain” which forms a strong UV resistant product when bonding.
